Our Charter

Open Law, Nos valeurs.

The values that we defend are gathered into our Charter, backbone of our day-to-day action.

It aims to maintain trust in projects led by Open Law*, le Droit Ouvert thanks to transparent governance rules and clearly defined objectives.

Each members and contributors agree to act in compliance with the provisions of this Charter.

COLLABORATION AND OPENNESS

Our action aims to encourage openness and access to law and justice in all their full spectrum, thanks to :

  • The disclosure of open legal datasets (Open Data).

  • The development of Free and Open Source applications ;

  • The definition of Interoperability specifications ;

  • The distribution of Open Content ;

  • The promotion of Open Access.

INTEGRITY AND TRANSPARENCY

Open Law’s stakehlolders commit themselves not to :

  • Prospect other stakeholders during programs and actions organized by the association ;

  • Use Open Law’s events only to showcase concepts or products ;

  • Speak on the behalf of the association if they are not specifically instructed to do it :

  • Hold back their knowledge of any conflict of interest likely to harm the association work or reputation.

DIVERSITY AND NON-DISCRIMINATION

In its work or the membership of its governance bodies, the association :

  • Apply non discrimination principle

  • Seek to represent the diversity of its ecosystem

CONFIDENTIALITY AND INFORMATION FLOW

In order to encourage openness and the sharing of information, Open Law’s meetings are held under the Chatham House Rule, meaning participants :

  • Are free to use the information received

  • But neither to reveal the identity or the affiliation of the speaker(s), nor that of any other participant(s).

This rule can only be derogated from with the written consent of the person involved.

CONFLICT RESOLUTION 

If any conflict should arise, the association will always favor discussion and conciliation rather than litigation case.
