« Open Law » was launched in 2014 during Open World Forum, an International evend dedicated to Open Innovation stakeholders, thanks to the joint effort of the DILA, Etalab and the NUMA.
Firstly dedicated to open data and related technologies, Open Law activities soon extend to business stakes : the association intervenes as a support to the digital transformation of the legal sector through innovation programs dedicated to key topics such as educational background, ethics, or interprofessionality. It can be explained by the growing number and range of actors who join the movement (editors, lawyers, public sector, specialized press, notary, start-up, companies with big legal department) asking for an economic understanding of the mutation/disruption encountered by their branch as much as a technological one.
Three years later, Open Law is working with all the relevant actors of the legal innovation sector. Moreover, our community gathers more than 2000 professionals covering several dozen area of expertise. Thanks to over a hundred gatherings, this ecosystem has nurtured more than 50 innovative projects and participated in the creation of new resources handled collectively. The eponymous association actively supports this collective action by offering space, infrastructure and methodologies for co-working and experimentation.
Our success is linked to the inherent values of the movement : inclusion, openness, mutualisation, transparency. Those values create an innovation-friendly framework where stakeholders established themselves as a diversified ecosystem built on collaboration.
